Reinaldo Lasanta-García, DMD
Meet Dr. Lasanta
Dr. Lasanta first attended the University of Puerto Rico, where he received his Bachelor degree in Science with a second major in Music. In 2009 Dr. Lasanta-García graduated with honors from the University of Puerto Rico School of Dental Medicine and received his Dental Medicine Doctorate (DMD) degree. He served as class president and has been involved in multiple professional organizations. He is a native of San Juan, Puerto Rico and fully bilingual in English and Spanish.
After graduation Dr. Lasanta-García underwent further training by completing a General Practice Residency (GPR) at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois in the Chicago area. In this role he was part of a multidisciplinary dental and medical team focusing on providing comprehensive care including cosmetic, restorative, prosthetic, surgical and emergency dentistry. This training emphasized treating medically compromised patients in multiple settings ranging from private office to hospital setting and in the operating room.
After completing his training, Dr. Lasanta became a private practitioner in Illinois providing all aspects of general dentistry in conjunction with a team of dental specialists providing multidisciplinary care. Dr. Lasanta later served as a Dental Director for a Federally Qualified Health Center overseeing multiple dental clinics. Dr. Lasanta also served as the Director of the NYU-Langone Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency Program (AEGD) in Pitt County, North Carolina. He served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor for the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry at Chapel Hill since 2011. He has been practicing dentistry full time throughout his carrier. Dr. Lasanta is an active member of the American Dental Association and the North Carolina Dental Society.
An avid reader, Dr. Lasanta enjoys music, scuba diving, movies and photography. He and his wife, Dr. Hernández, live in Durham and have two lovely long-hair “spoiled” dachshunds.
